Fate/Prototype (フェイト/プロトタイプ, Feito/Purototaipu) is a Japanese original video animation distributed with the third home release of Carnival Phantasm. It was directed by Seiji Kishi and animated by Lerche, and was released on December 31, 2011. Makoto Uezu wrote the script, Kazuaki Morita designed the characters, and the music was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi.[2]
The OVA tells the story around the Second Tokyo Holy Grail War, it is the reworked original concept of Kinoko Nasu's for Fate/stay night. It has yet to be adapted as a full series, with only a short animated feature and production notes detailing the story. The prequel story Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver has been fully adapted in drama CDs with the same voice actors and actresses. Two light novel series and a manga series were released by Kadokawa Shoten.
The system of the War and everything else is much like that from Fate/stay night in some points, but unlike the produced project, the Prototype version has Masters that possess "Master Degrees", which are named following the angelic hierarchy starting from the 7th Order and up (so Princes, Powers, Virtues, Dominions, Thrones, Cherubim, Seraphim).
The storyline of Fate/Prototype takes place in its own universe, eight years after the tragic First Holy Grail War also known as the "Heaven's Feel" ritual. Here, the Holy Grail is still the so desired object. However, the darkness contained within the "Holy Grail" is gradually revealed as the characters proceed to struggle against each other win the war.
The story begins with Ayaka Sajo, a magus who is the last surviving member of the Sajyou family who tries to live her life as normally as possible, while avoiding any connection to her past and the Holy Grail War. However, Ayaka's destiny has been sealed since the day when her father and prominent older sister, Manaka Sajyou, were murdered during the First Holy Grail War, eight years ago. Even now, she can still remember the last thing her father said before his death "You have no choice but to enter into the Heaven's Feel".
On the eighth anniversary of the death of her family, Ayaka has a mysterious encounter with Sancraid Phahn who warns her that the Second Holy Grail War is about to begin and that she can't run away from it. Later that night, Ayaka is pursued by a mysterious man with vicious creatures, who stabs her with his weapon. She is saved just in time by a holy radiance that summons a warrior who saves her. Now, Ayaka has no choice but to enter into the Second Holy Grail War and survive.
The original version of Fate/stay night, originally called Fate Skipper (フェイト・スキッパー, Feito Sukippā) and now referred to as Old Fate (旧Fate, Kyū Fate) and Fate Origin, was a novel that Nasu wrote during high school, eventually being mostly redesigned as a visual novel to suit the target audience. They were reluctant to completely abandon many of the "original charms" that were discarded, and they had wished to utilize them somehow with each passing year. Twenty years after originally being penned, they decided to make use of the release of Carnival Phantasm, discarding other proposals like Princess Arcueid VS Saber Lily or a scene from Tsukihime 2, to "just once, return to the original" for the company's belated tenth anniversary.[1]
They decided to frame the animation like a movie trailer, utilizing the best parts and still telling the story properly. Nasu feels that the main idea of the work was in the style of an '80s romance, "A story of revolutionizing the world", and took great interest in returning to the work. The large difference in obtaining the Holy Grail from the original to the final product in Fate/stay night can be said to represent the changing trends of the period.[1]

Fate is a Japanese multimedia franchise created by author Kinoko Nasu and artist Takashi Takeuchi for Type-Moon. The franchise primarily focuses on the Holy Grail War; a conflict between mages called Masters and their "heroic spirits" called Servants who are incarnations of figures from mythology and history. The visual novel Fate/Stay Night was released for Windows in January 2004. A spin-off visual novel titled Fate/Hollow Ataraxia was released in October 2005. Subsequent entries have continued to release under the form of light novels, manga, video games, and more, while being adapted to other formats. Fate/Stay Night followed the success of Type-Moon's previous visual novel, Tsukihime, which released in 2000. Prior to creating Fate/Stay Night, Nasu wrote the light novel series The Garden of Sinners between 1998-1999, and an unreleased novel in 1996 called Witch on the Holy Night which would later be reworked as a visual novel and released in 2012. The Fate franchise is connected to Nasu's other works through a multiverse.
Fate/Stay Night (stylized as Fate/stay night) is a Japanese visual novel game developed by Type-Moon. It was initially released on January 30, 2004, for Windows PCs as an adult game, with Type-Moon later releasing versions of Fate/Stay Night without the erotic content. The story takes place through three distinct routes: Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel. It focuses on a teenager named Shirou Emiya, who joins the Holy Grail War; a battle between mages called "Masters" and their "Servants". In each route, Shirou bonds with a heroine and confronts different adversaries participating in the war. An enhanced version, Fate/Stay Night Réalta Nua, was released in April 2007 for the PlayStation 2. Realta Nua was later ported to Windows in 2011, PlayStation Vita in 2012, and Android and iOS in 2015. A remastered version of Réalta Nua was released for Nintendo Switch and PC, through digital video game distribution service Steam in August 2024, marking the game's first release outside Japan. Fate/Stay Night was a critical and commercial success and is considered a defining work in the visual novel genre. The game was regarded as the highest-selling visual novel in Japan at the time of its release. Type-Moon later went on to produce an adult spin-off called Fate/Hollow Ataraxia in October 2005, which expanded on the events of Fate/Stay Night eight months later. Fate/Stay Night has received several anime and manga adaptations, beginning with a 24-episode anime series by Studio Deen, based on the Fate route. It aired in Japan between January and June 2006. A film adaptation, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, also by Studio Deen, was released in January 2010. A second anime television series, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, was produced by Ufotable and aired between October 2014 and June 2015. A film trilogy by Ufotable adapted the Heaven's Feel route, consisting of three films: Presage Flower (2017), Lost Butterfly (2019), and Spring Song (2020). There have been multiple manga adaptations based on Fate/Stay Night published by ASCII Media Works, Kadokawa Shoten and Ichijinsha. The first manga series adaptation by Datto Nishiwaki began serialization in the Shōnen Ace magazine between February 2006 and December 2012. A second manga adaptation, based on the Heaven's Feel route, was illustrated by Taskohna, and began serialization in 2015 in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace. A third manga adaptation, based on Unlimited Blade Works and illustrated by Daisuke Moriyama, began in 2021 in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Daioh.
Artoria Pendragon (Japanese: アルトリア・ペンドラゴン, Hepburn: Arutoria Pendoragon) (alternatively, Altria), often known as Saber (セイバー, Seibā), is a fictional character from the Japanese 2004 visual novel Fate/stay night by Type-Moon. Saber is a heroic warrior who is summoned by a teenager named Shirou Emiya to participate in a war between masters and servants who are fighting to accomplish their dreams using the mythical Holy Grail. Saber's relationship with the story's other characters depends on the player's decisions; she becomes a love interest to Shirou in the novel's first route and also serves as that route's servant protagonist, a supporting character in the second, and a villain called "Saber Alter" (セイバー・オルタ, Seibā Oruta) in the third route. Saber is an agile and mighty warrior who is loyal, independent, and reserved; she appears emotionally cold but is actually suppressing her emotions to focus on her goals. She is also present in the prequel light novel Fate/Zero, in which she is the servant of Shirou's guardian Kiritsugu Emiya during the previous Holy Grail War, and in the sequel Fate/hollow ataraxia. Saber also appears in the novel's printed and animated adaptations, reprising her role in the game. Saber was created by Kinoko Nasu after the series' leading illustrator suggested having an armored woman as a protagonist for the visual novel; writer Gen Urobuchi commented on her character becoming darker depending on the situations. Urobuchi created his scenario involving Saber and Kiritsugu because their relationship was little explored in the original visual novel. Saber has been voiced by Ayako Kawasumi in her Japanese appearances, and multiple actresses took the role in English-language dubs of the series' animated adaptations. Critical reception to Saber's character and role in Fate/Stay Night, and by extension her relationship with Shirou has been generally positive. On the other hand, her characterization and relationships with characters in Fate/Zero has been subject to controversy. Her portrayal in Stay Night was that of a deeply self-assured, pragmatic ruler, capable of putting aside her ideals for the greater good of her nation, as shown by her utilitarian decision-making in allowing certain settlements to starve in order to feed her vanguard and ultimately ensure the survival of Britain as a whole. However, in Fate/Zero, characters such as Gilgamesh ridicule her for her naivety and steadfast devotion to chivalry, and her master Kiritsugu is relegated the role of having to educate her about the realities of war, despite her status as a monarch who has seen, participated, and killed in war to a far greater extent than he, and is far more aware of its grim realities. On the whole, Saber has been popular within the Fate series and anime in general, with numerous alternative depictions in the franchise and in Fate/Grand Order.
Before the 1921 destruction of Tulsa’s Greenwood District, Black residents had created a remarkable center of business and community life. The district included stores, professional offices, entertainment venues and homes owned by Black citizens. Understanding Greenwood means learning what was built—not only what was burned.
