Filetopia is a free, multi-platform peer-to-peer file sharing client and networking tool that allows users to share files and send instant messages to others. Users can share files in public chat rooms or privately with contacts.
Filetopia software development started in October 1998, and the first public beta was released in March 1999. The classic Filetopia software version was 3.04d, 2002. In 2003, Filetopia v3.04 was reviewed in PC Magazine and rated 3/5.[3] In 2004, the author of Filetopia was interviewed on the website Slyck.com.[4]
In April 2012, development began on a project to completely rewrite the program in JavaFX. This version was eventually released as Filetopia FX.
Filetopia FX no longer allows global-wide file searching and instead encourages meeting new people. It is a complete rewrite of the original.
In this version, the maximum file size limit of 2 GB was removed; users gained the ability to post images and HTML fragments, which are filtered for security purposes; Room Walls have new features, such as comments, votes, and moderation; the ability to notify admins and subscribers was added; and the Log was given a search function.
Users could also host their own rooms, which are excluded from the main P2P network.

The Speaks is Filipino-American alternative rock band composed of mostly Filipinos and Filipino-Americans, although later members of the band were not all Filipino. The band members include guitarist Cal Stamp, bassist Jerry Delino, drummer Derek Lee, vocalist Rafael Toledo, and acoustic and rhythm Archie dela Cruz. Original members included percussionist John Abelende, lead guitarist Siegfred Fuster and rhythm guitarist Myk Menez. The band was established in Washington, D.C. during the late 1990s. The band is notably remembered for their hit songs "High" and "Life's a Joke". Their album, according to the Manila Bulletin, debuted at number one on the Filetopia online radio station in the United Kingdom. The album, entitled This Is the Time was a hit on Asian radio charts (including Magic 89.9's Final Countdown, and in the top 20 of 97.1 WLS-FM). Their music videos have been featured on MTV Asia and Myx. The Washington Post declared the band as one of the top 5 bands in 2009. The Washington, D.C.–based band won competitions such as the JAXX "World's Largest Battle of the Bands" (2003), the DC Hard Rock Café/SoBe "Ultimate Altitude Buzz" Battle of the Bands Finals (2003), and the DC 101 "Last Band Standing" competition (2004). The band was co-managed by Rob Shipp and Jerry Garcia.
Shadow libraries, also referred to as pirate libraries or black open access, are online repositories of freely available digital media that are normally paywalled, access-controlled, or otherwise not readily accessible. Shadow libraries usually contain textual works such as academic papers and ebooks, and may include other digital media like software, music, or films. Anna's Archive, Library Genesis, Sci-Hub, UbuWeb and Z-Library are some of the most popular shadow libraries for books and academic literature.
Online chat is any direct text-, audio- or video-based (webcams), one-on-one or one-to-many (group) chat (formally also known as synchronous conferencing), using tools such as instant messengers, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), talkers and possibly MUDs or other online games. Online chat includes web-based applications that allow communication – often directly addressed, but anonymous between users in a multi-user environment. Web conferencing is a more specific online service that is often sold as a service, hosted on a web server controlled by the vendor. Online chat may address point-to-point communications as well as multicast communications from one sender to multiple receivers and voice and video chat, or may be a feature of a web conferencing service. Online chat in a narrower sense is any kind of communication over the Internet that offers a real-time transmission of text messages from sender to receiver. Chat messages are generally short to enable other participants to respond quickly. Thereby, a feeling similar to a spoken conversation is created, which distinguishes chatting from other text-based online communication forms such as Internet forums and email. The expression online chat comes from the word chat which means "informal conversation". Synchronous conferencing or synchronous computer-mediated communication (SCMC) is any form of computer-mediated communication that occurs in real-time; that is, there is no significant delay between sending and receiving messages. SCMC includes real-time forms of text, audio, and video communication. SCMC has been highly studied in the context of e-learning.
Before the 1921 destruction of Tulsa’s Greenwood District, Black residents had created a remarkable center of business and community life. The district included stores, professional offices, entertainment venues and homes owned by Black citizens. Understanding Greenwood means learning what was built—not only what was burned.
