In finance, flow trading occurs when a firm trades stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities, their derivatives, or other financial instruments, with funds from a client, rather than its own funds. In foreign exchange markets, dealers use the aggregate order flow they observe from clients to price currencies and manage their own positions. Flow trading can be a significant source of profits for investment banks. For example, in the first quarter of 2026 JPMorgan's fixed-income traders recorded their second-best quarterly haul on record, while Goldman Sachs reported record equities trading revenue, both reflecting elevated client activity. Engaging in flow trading can also boost a firm's own proprietary trading profits via access to information on client activities. Additionally, the firm can often facilitate client trades by serving as the counterparty, thus profiting from the bid–offer spread. In 2011, the Volcker Rule aimed to limit flow trading businesses from taking proprietary bets.
Order flow trading is a type of trading strategy and form of analysis used by traders on the markets, other popular forms of market/trading analysis include technical analysis, sentiment analysis and fundamental analysis. Order flow trading is the process of analysing the flow of trades being placed by other traders on a specific market. This is done by watching the order book and also footprint charts. Order flow analysis allows traders to see what type of orders are being placed at a certain time in the market, e.g. the amount of Buy and Sell orders at a given price point. Traders can use Order Flow analysis to see the subsequent impact on the price of the market by these orders and therefore make predictions on the future price and direction of the market. Order flow trading is a type of short term trading strategy as it is used to enter the market accurately based on recent executed buy and sell orders. Order Flow Trading is sometimes referred to as a form of volume trading.
Traders is a Canadian television drama series, which was broadcast on Global Television Network from 1996 to 2000 and CBC Television from 1997 to 1998. The series centred on the employees of Gardner Ross, an investment bank in the Bay Street financial district of Toronto, Ontario.
Before the 1921 destruction of Tulsa’s Greenwood District, Black residents had created a remarkable center of business and community life. The district included stores, professional offices, entertainment venues and homes owned by Black citizens. Understanding Greenwood means learning what was built—not only what was burned.
