Oracle SQL Developer is an Integrated development environment (IDE) for working with SQL in Oracle databases. Oracle Corporation provides this product free; it uses the Java Development Kit.
The SQL Developer product was initially created in response to a large invoice sent from Quest Software to Oracle Corporation over the use of Quest's TOAD product within Oracle's consulting group - Quest claimed that Oracle used the tool far more extensively than their license allowed for.
Larry Ellison personally called the lead developer during lunch early in 2006, stating that the payment just made to Quest in response to this (per Oracle's view) unwarranted license charge would be the last time Oracle paid the company for TOAD, and the developer was instructed to build a product that could replace it.[5]
The initial release of SQL Developer was quickly put together, and released to Oracle internally immediately.
Oracle SQL Developer supports Oracle products. In the past a variety of third-party plugins were supported which users were able to deploy to connect to non-Oracle databases. Oracle SQL Developer worked with IBM Db2, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Sybase Adaptive Server, Amazon Redshift and Teradata databases.[6]
Oracle SQL Developer supports automatic tabs, code insight, bracket matching and syntax coloring for PL/SQL.
Future versions of Oracle SQL Developer will use Visual Studio Code.[1]
Oracle SQL Developer product components include the OWA (Oracle Web Agent or MOD_PLSQL), an extension module for the Apache web server, and helps in setting up dynamic web-pages from PL/SQL within Oracle SQL Developer.[7]
In addition to the extensions provided by Oracle, third parties have written extensions to add new features to SQL Developer and to integrate with other products:[8]

SQL Developer Data Modeler is a data modeling and database design tool that provides an environment for capturing, modeling, managing, and exploiting metadata.[...] SQL Developer Data Modeler is a for-cost option of SQL Developer that requires a separate license. However, a free viewer (read-only) version is also available [...]
Is Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler free? - Yes.

Oracle Developer Studio, formerly named Oracle Solaris Studio, Sun Studio, Sun WorkShop, Forte Developer, and SunPro Compilers, is the Oracle Corporation's flagship software development product for the Solaris and Linux operating systems. It includes optimizing C, C++, and Fortran compilers, libraries, and performance analysis and debugging tools, for Solaris on SPARC and x86 platforms, and Linux on x86/x64 platforms, including multi-core systems. Oracle Developer Studio is downloadable and usable at no charge; however, there are many security and functionality patch updates which are only available with a support contract from Oracle. Version 12.4 added partial support for the C++11 language standard. All C++11 features are supported except for concurrency and atomic operations, and user-defined literals. Version 12.6 supports the C++14 language standard.
Performance Analyzer is a commercial utility software for software performance analysis for x86 or SPARC machines. It has both a graphical user interface and a command line interface. It is available for both Linux and Solaris operating systems. It can profile C, C++, and Java. Performance Analyzer is available as part of Oracle Developer Studio. It has visualization capabilities, can read out hardware performance counters, thread synchronization, memory allocations and I/O, and specifically supports Java, OpenMP, MPI, and the Solaris kernel.
A♯ (pronounced: A sharp) is an object-oriented functional programming language distributed as a separable component of Version 2 of the Axiom computer algebra system. A# types and functions are first-class values and can be used freely together with an extensive library of data structures and other mathematical abstractions. A key design guideline for A# was suitability of compiling to portable and efficient machine code. It is distributed as free and open-source software under a BSD-like license. Development of A# has now changed to the programming language Aldor. A# has both an optimising compiler, and an intermediate code interpreter. The compiler can emit any of: Executable stand-alone programs Libraries, of native operating system format objects, or of portable bytecode Source code, for languages C, or Lisp The following C compilers are supported: GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), Xlc, Oracle Developer Studio, Borland, Metaware, and MIPS C.

Before the 1921 destruction of Tulsa’s Greenwood District, Black residents had created a remarkable center of business and community life. The district included stores, professional offices, entertainment venues and homes owned by Black citizens. Understanding Greenwood means learning what was built—not only what was burned.
