Wilmington, North Carolina once had a thriving Black middle class and an elected interracial government. In 1898 white supremacists used violence to overthrow that government, kill Black residents and drive many others from the city.

uWSGI is an open source software application that "aims at developing a full stack for building hosting services".[3] It is named after the Web Server Gateway Interface (WSGI), which was the first plugin supported by the project.[3] uWSGI is maintained by the Italian-based software company unbit.[4]
uwsgi (all lowercase) is the native binary protocol that uWSGI uses to communicate with other servers.[5]
uWSGI is often used in conjunction with web servers such as Cherokee and nginx, which offer direct support for uWSGI's native uwsgi protocol, to serve Python web applications such as Django.[6] For example, data may flow like this: HTTP client ↔ Nginx ↔ uWSGI ↔ Python app.[7]

The Apache HTTP Server is a free and open-source cross-platform web server, released under the terms of Apache License 2.0. It is developed and maintained by a community of developers under the auspices of the Apache Software Foundation. The vast majority of Apache HTTP Server instances run on a Linux distribution, but current versions also run on Microsoft Windows, OpenVMS, and a wide variety of Unix-like systems. Past versions also ran on NetWare, OS/2 and other operating systems, including ports to mainframes. Originally based on the NCSA HTTPd server, development of Apache began in early 1995 after work on the NCSA code stalled. Apache played a key role in the initial growth of the World Wide Web, It quickly overtook NCSA HTTPd as the dominant web server software for HTTP. In 2009, it became the first web server software to serve more than 100 million websites. As of March 2025, Netcraft estimated that Apache served 17.83% of the million busiest websites, with the other top four being Cloudflare at 22.99%, nginx at 20.11%, and Microsoft Internet Information Services at 4.16%. According to W3Techs' review of all web sites, in April 2026 Apache was ranked third at 23.7% and nginx first at 32.7%, with Cloudflare Server second at 27.7%.
In computing, Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is an interface specification that enables web servers to execute an external program to process HTTP or HTTPS user requests. Such programs are often written in a scripting language and are commonly referred to as CGI scripts, but they may include compiled programs. A typical use case occurs when a web user submits a web form on a web page that uses CGI. The form's data is sent to the web server within an HTTP request with a URL denoting a CGI script. The web server then launches the CGI script in a new computer process, passing the form data to it. The CGI script passes its output, usually in the form of HTML, to the Web server, and the server relays it back to the browser as its response to the browser's request. Developed in the early 1990s, CGI was the earliest common method available that allowed a web page to be interactive. Due to a necessity to run CGI scripts in a separate process every time the request comes in from a client, various alternatives were developed.
Plumi was a free software video-sharing content management system (CMS) based on Plone, an open-source CMS. Plumi enables users to establish video-sharing websites. Plumi is a free and open source alternative to YouTube. It was designed to allow communities to create video-sharing communities. and to be more accessible to non-profit groups and independent journalists.
Before the 1921 destruction of Tulsa’s Greenwood District, Black residents had created a remarkable center of business and community life. The district included stores, professional offices, entertainment venues and homes owned by Black citizens. Understanding Greenwood means learning what was built—not only what was burned.
